Max grew up at Hr. Buffett in Placentia Bay , where he played for traditional dances. He now resides as a retired teacher in St. John's.
He plays button accordion, concertina, tin whistle, and does some vocals. Previously, he played professionally with the dance band "Just Us".
When Max is not playing music, he and his wife Brenda pursue another hobby - boating on Conception Bay.
