CHANGE ISLANDS, NEWFOUNDLAND

On the 23 and 24 July 2004, Change Islands will host the band KILMAINHAM from St. John's, NL. The six-member band now 12 years old plays for church organizations, seniors groups and in school gyms. Two of the band members came to Change Islands last year and loved it so much they wanted to return with their band to play and enjoy the beauty of the Islands together.

The band members are Max Collett, Jim Power, Frank Davis, George Jarvis, Keith Cooke and Gar Dale. The band plays 10 instruments - button accordion, concertina, bodrhan, tin whistle, six string guitar, twelve string guitar, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin and dobro (Hawaiian guitar). They specialize in Irish, folk and country music.

Sponsored by Stages and Stores, Inc., the concert will be held in the A. R. Scammell school gym on Friday night the 23 July. The concert fee is $5.00 payable at the door. Proceeds will cover costs and surplus, if any will support the Stages and Stores Heritage Foundation in the continued restoration of Change Islands stages and stores.

Saturday night is more informal. The band will jam at the Burgundy Squid Café (Torraville Stage and wharf). Some community musicians have agreed to play with the band and others are welcome to play along.

Come and enjoy the festivities on both nights.
