Kilmainham announces the release of "Sentinel of the Sea".

The CD features a collection of 6 original and 14 traditional tunes from Newfoundland and Ireland.
Kilmainham has been performing for 15 years and the group is very excited about the new release.
The title track "Sentinel of the Sea" was written by lead singer Jim Power in memory of his late father
Leo Power, a longtime lighthousekeeper at Fort Amherst. The tune is dedicated to all lighthousekeepers
everywhere. Other original tunes on the CD include "48 Days Adrift" - the story of the Neptune II and its
famous transatlantic voyage; "The Ghosts of Old Kilmainham" - about the Irish rebel leaders who
were executed in Dublin's Kilmainham Jail after the Easter Rising of 1916; "Max's Tune" - a high
energy accordion toe tapper; "Maureen's Song" - a love song with a beautiful melody; "Sam 'n Ella":
A skit ...featuring an original tune "I Never Will Drink No More". "The Murder of Alfreda Pike" is one of
only several Newfoundland murder ballads. The song is from the Peacock collection "Songs of the
Newfoundland Outports". It tells the true story of the unsolved murder of a young girl in Harbour Grace in 1870.
While we did not write this tune, we did create a contemporary melody and a closing verse because it was
felt that the tune needed both. Some of Kilmainham's live performances at The Beaches Heritage Theatre in
Eastport, NL in July 2005 are also included in the collection.

CD's are available in St.John's, NL at   -Fred's Records on Duckworth St.;   -O'Brien's Music on Water St.;   -CD Plus in Avalon Mall;
-Music World, Village Mall.

A Keepsake
In early 2000 Kilmainham decided that it was time to record for posterity some of the songs we
perform ...for our collection and memoribilia. This CD, as popular as it is, cannot be purchased
in stores. Various cuts can be heard regularly on Radio Station VOWR - 800 khz on the dial in
